Befrienders International India opens a centre in Cochin / India to help people who are lonely, depressed & suicidal.

Thodupuzha, a municipality in Iddukki district and one of the fastest developing satellite town of Kochi, also known as " Mini Kochi of the East" on Monday, the 15th of July 2019, witnessed the grand inauguration of " UNARVE " a befriending centre with the sole purpose of suicide prevention.

The inaugural event was conducted at the auditorium of Newman College, Thodupuzha. It was attended by top dignitaries, college authorities and students, volunteers of Unarve and Maithri and many residents of Thodupuzha.

Unarve was inaugurated by Shri. P.J.Joseph. MLA, in the presence of Prof. Jessy Antony ( Municipal Chairperson), Dr. M.C.Dileep Kumar ( Former V.C of Sanskrit University, Kalady), Befrienders India President Adv.Rajesh.R.Pillai, Director of Maithri Mr. Thampy, Dr. Sudarshan Psychiatrist, Mr. Jose Peter, President of Unarve, along with other distinguished guests.

The opening of Unarve in Thodupuzha, a voluntary movement for the lonely, depressed and suicidal has come at the right moment as Iddukki is considered to have the highest rate of suicides in Kerala.
